Is United Vacations and United Packages the same? ›

Packages is a new tool partnered with Priceline to customize your trip by bundling flights, cars and hotels, while also earning MileagePlus^® miles. Whereas United Vacations is our vacation brand available for booking through travel agencies, online and their call center.

A vacation package allows you to bundle multiple aspects of your trip into one convenient purchase, often saving you both time and money. You can choose from a variety of bundles including flight + hotel, flight + hotel + car, flight + car or hotel + car.

How do I cancel my online reservation? Contact the United Vacations customer care center (1-888-854-3899) to cancel your reservation and request a refund based on the Terms and Conditions of the vacation package.

Travelers booking on Saturday or Sunday get lower airfares compared to those booking on weekdays. How do I avoid cancellation fee on United? ›

All customers have 24 hours from the time of their original booking to cancel their reservation without being charged a cancellation fee, regardless of the fare selected, as long as the ticket was purchased a week or more before departure.

Refund policy overview

Under our 24-hour flexible booking policy, if your ticket was purchased through United in the last 24 hours and you completed your purchase one week or more before the original scheduled departure flight, it may qualify for waiver of change or cancellation fees.

Specifically, plane tickets usually don't get cheaper closer to the departure date. Instead, flights tend to be the most inexpensive when you book between four months and three weeks before your departure date.

Tuesdays and Wednesdays are the cheapest days to fly domestically. The cheapest days to depart if you're flying within the U.S. are midweek — generally Tuesday or Wednesday. For economy tickets, Tuesdays are about 24% lower than peak prices on Sundays, which translates to savings of about $85 per ticket.

You can't bring a carry-on bag unless you're flying to South America, across the Atlantic or across the Pacific. All other bags have to be checked. Note, if you check a carry-on at your gate, you'll be charged the standard bag fee plus an additional $25.

How much is a checked bag on United basic economy? Unless you're elite or have a United credit card, basic economy class passengers can expect to pay $35 (or $30 if prepaid) for the first checked bag and $45 ($40 if prepaid) for the second checked bag on domestic flights.

Except for the $25 fee for basic economy customers who bring a full-size bag to the gate, United Airlines doesn't have a carry-on fee for any tickets. If your carry-on is bigger than the maximum permitted size, United will check your bag to your final destination (but you might need to pay a checked bag fee).
