Great location and decent place but beware of the unknown terrible cleaning fee

This was a decent place except we had to pay an unexpected and unexpected cleaning fee of $250 USD upon arrival for a two night stay. This unknown charge made this booking very misleading. If this had been made clear when booking we could have looked elsewhere for better value places. The wifi in our unit also didn't work so we had to call the front desk several times who had us look at the router devices and try the default passwords. They said they would send a technician over but during our stay we had to use the wifi from a neighboring unit which was inadequate and not working most of the time. There were also ants and a list of tasks to do before check out. I do not recommend staying at Castle Kamaole Sands Resort!

    Immaculate unit, calm and relaxing

Very updated 1 bedroom, 2 bath, new cabinets, flooring and appliances throughout. The furniture is modern and not a piece of bamboo. I wish he had taken pictures. Request accommodation in building 7, unit 207. The grounds are well maintained and the view from the very large balcony is wonderful. We spent three relaxing nights here. This unit has sunbeds, beach towels, umbrella and sand toys for children.

    beware of additional hidden charges

one of the worst holidays I've had. when i got to check in i was informed that there was a $310+ usd "cleaning fee" that was never disclosed prior to booking and i would not be allowed to check in without paying this outrageous fee nor would i be allowed to cancel my reservation without losing 100% of the cost of the stay. so I was forced to pay the fee or I would sleep outside and lose all the advances. I don't understand why the cleaning fee is so high as our unit was dirty (stained sheets, hair dusty floors, no bed comforter, sofa bed was dirty). I would definitely NOT recommend this place to anyone.

    Building 5 115 was amazing

We were in Building 5 in room 115. We had booked 3 apartments and this was the best of the 3. First floor with a very large comfortable sofa, lovely comfortable patio furniture and a lovely double Murphy bed. The master bedroom had a king size bed which was very comfortable. 2 bathrooms both with shower. The master bathroom had a shower with a tub and the second shower was a walk-in shower. The kitchen was well equipped although we didn't cook. Ceiling fans in rooms. We didn't need the AC which is great as the living room AC blew right at the head of the Murphy bed. Lots and lots of drawers. Great internet. 2 large TVs. There was an orange cat that knew how to open the screen door and we had to carry her in every day. The staff was amazing as was the pool and hot tub. I enjoyed our stay here. The patio closet had chairs, a wagon, floats, an icebox, etc. The refrigerator has an ice maker. Beach across the street and swam with turtles every day.

    Poor maintenance and dishonest management

When we checked in we were told that a ground floor unit was the only one available despite our clear request at the time of booking that we did not want a ground floor. It only got worse from there, the furniture in the unit was cheap and worn. The mattress on the sofa bed was non-existent which caused me to bruise my spine which escalated to a full blown spinal infection and a visit from the ambulance service. After returning home, we asked for a partial refund and the manager gave us a chance. It was only after our travel agent insisted and got their own lawyer involved that we were given a refund. Obviously, each unit is individually owned and it's luck of the draw whether you have a good landlord who maintains the unit or not. Avoid this resort - for your own health and safety!
